Wait, this is the X-files. What am I kidding? Half of the stuff on the show could never happen either. Ok, we're even. Comments, suggestions, and flames are welcome. Enjoy! Fox Mulder's eyes opened to the sight of himself. The mirrors on the ceiling had been mysteriously put there, along with the entire bedroom. He had awoken from the most intriguing dream. He found himself face to face with an evil version of himself. Everything was opposite. Even the mole on his cheek. His mirror twin, as they often called it, had kidnapped his partner, Dana Scully, from her own apartment. Spooky, he thought. He chuckled as he got out of bed. A waterbed. Who'd have thought? Then, the unthinkable happened. The phone rang. "Hello?" "Mulder! Help!" the screams echoed in his ear. "Scully? What's wrong?" The panic in her voice was what scared him the most. Scully was probably the strongest woman he's ever known. She's been through so much, and he respected her a great deal because of it. "Mulder, there's a man here who looks exactly like you." That was it. That was what did it. Did his nightmare come true? Did he really have a twin brother his mother never told him about? That didn't matter now, what mattered most was Scully. "Scully, where are you?" "I don't...." her sentence was interrupted by some static. "If you ever want to see your pretty partner again, you better bring my Deena back to me." Click. Mulder angrily ripped the phone from his ear and slammed it down. He threw some clothes on. He knew there was only one person he could turn to.... FBI Building 10:31 a.m. "Fox Mulder here to see AD Skinner." Skinner's assistant walked into his office. Fox paced in front of her desk. She walked back out. "You may go in." He quickly walked past her before she even finished her sentence. He knew that if he did have any time, it was slim to none before that psycho did something to her. It was now or never. "Sir, something....happened." "Is something wrong?" A lump swelled up in his throat. He choked his tears back as he began to speak. "Scully's been kidnapped." Skinner looked shocked. "When did this happen?" "I don't know, she called me this morning. She said the man looked exactly like me. But that's the thing. I had a dream about it last night. It was me." She has had such a great impact on his life. Skinner could tell. Over the past six years, they've grown closer than lovers could ever be. They've shared each others' past and present. Mulder's eyes looked hurt. First his sister and now his best friend. Bu t he was going to get her back. No matter what it takes. Rex's warehouse. 10:45 a.m. Rex's eyes shown a rich hazel as they stared into Scully's petrified face. She noticed Rex's eyes were much much colder than Mulder's. His were deeper, more meaningful. She knew Fox wasn't capable of hurting her. But Rex. Rex had this deep passion for som e girl named Deena. She couldn't even understand why Mulder would even know her. She didn't want to understand. She just wanted to go home. Safe, in the arms of her partner. Not this monster. He wasn't anything like Mulder. No, Mulder was gentle, suave, and kind. "What do you want with me?" Scully said as she choked back terrified tears. "I don't want you. I want Deena." He picked up the phone and dialed Mulder's number. Mulder's car- Highway 13 11:07 a.m. "Mulder." "You have something I want. I have something you want. How about a trade?" "I don't have what you want!" "You find my Deena, then we'll talk." Click. Ok, now he was getting ticked. Not only did he not know who Deena was, but he had to find her. Great, a needle in a haystack. He drearily looked at the road. His mind drifted as a red headed girl walked in front of his car. He slammed on his brakes as he nearly missed her. He was more shocked then anything. He stared into Scully's face. Wait, he thought. That can't be her. She looked at him strangely, then an evil grin appeared on her face. She bounced over to the car. "Rex!" she said as she bent down and kissed him. It was long and.....well, wet first came to his mind. "Scully?" he said as he pulled away. She looked highly dissappointed. "Now you don't even know my name?" "Deena?!" "That's better. Rex, where've you been?" "Get in the car." "Pushy, pushy. Can't we pull over. We both get in the back seat and..." "For one, I'm not Rex. But I know where he is. Well, ok, I don't know where he is, but I can call him." "Wait, I'm confused.....you're not Rex?" "No, my name is Fox. Fox Mulder. Your Rex has....somebody. He wants me to bring you to him so I can get her back." "He'll kill her." she said flatly. She got in the car. "What do you mean?" "I meant what I said and I said what I meant." "But why?" "Because he's bored. And so am I." He sat there for a moment, thinking. "I can fill your emptiness..." she perked. A sick, saddened expression grew on his face. He put the car into gear and drove off. Rex's Warehouse. 11:16 a.m. Rex's phone rang. His hands lingered over Scully's hair. She was trembling. She had remembered back to this morning. Just as she walked out the door to go to work, she realized she forgot her gun. She started to walk back in as she noticed Rex standing be hind her. She thought it was Mulder, at first. Anybody could have made that mistake. But his attire was disturbing. The leather pants really threw her off. That's when he took her. She just wanted to see Mulder. The real Mulder. The one with the mole of his right cheek. Not his left. That's how she knew. His hand slowly moved to her cheek as he got up to answer the phone. "Where is she?" Rex answered the phone hastily. Fox handed the phone to Deena. "Hiya, Rexy! You left me." she said as she dissappointedly played with her gum. "Hey, Baby. Don't worry. I have a surprise for you." "Ooooo, what is it? What is it?" she bounced like a 5-year-old waiting for a birthday present. "Well, now Deena. It's called a surprise." "Ohhh, come on Rex. You're no fun....you at the warehouse?" "Yep." "We're on our way." She tossed the phone in the passenger seat next to Mulder. "So, where's this warehouse at?" Mulder asked. "It's everywhere!" she started giggling profusely. "What are you on?" he asked. "Lust." she said as she started licking his ear. Fox swerved the car to the left. Deena flew up against the window. "Well, you people are boring. I wanna go home." "Where exactly is home?" "Through the mirror." What is this, a bad episode of Alice in Wonderland? he thought. After about 15 minutes of pointless questioning, he finally got an address out of her. Man, he thought. Scully gone slutty. This was bad. He didn't even want to think about what his counterpart was wearing. Rex's Warehouse 12:04 p.m. Dana tried relentlessly to untie her hands. Rex had left the room to check his mirror, or something like that. She wasn't really paying attention. She knew that even after Deena was back that that's not all they were in for. He wanted something else. She didn't really want to stick around to find out. "So, Dana. What do you think of your partner?" "What do you mean?" "I mean, what would you do if I killed him?" "I'd kill you! Don't you dare lay a finger on him!" she screamed. Mulder's car 12:13 p.m. Deena finally calmed down in the back seat. She was maybe a little too quiet. It scared him. She was up to something. She spoke up. "So, what do you think of your pretty partner?" she asked. "What do you mean, 'what do I think'?" "I mean, do you care about her?" "Of course I do. What kind of question is that?" "Would you kill for her?" "Well, considering I have before, yeah. I would." "Would you die for her?" They sat there in silence. "Why are you asking me this?" "Just a warning." She sat in silence the rest of the way there. The Warehouse 12:41 p.m. Rex heard a car pull up in front. He walked out of the little room to find Scully, right where he had left her. He wondered what she was thinking at the moment. He knew what he was thinking about. Blood. He had a need for it at the moment. He needed to to uch it, see it, smell it. He then noticed that Scully had been exceptionally still, as scared as she's been. He walked over to her. "Hey, Red. What are you up to?" As he neared her, he noticed her eyes were closed. He had playfully grabbed her throat earlier, maybe he had done it too hard. He checked if she was still breathing. She was, but barely. He noticed bruises forming around her neck. A wicked smile had come across his face as he anticipated what was going to happen next. Mulder barreled through the door with a gun pointed at Deena's head. "Now, this is getting exciting, heh?" Rex called out. This had waken up Scully. "I've had enough excitement for one day. How about you let her go?" Mulder calmly said. Although, a tint of fear could be detected in his voice. "Now where's the fun in that? You have to work for your pay!" Rex said as he picked Scully up. Mulder cocked his gun. "Rex, where's my surprise?" Deena said. "It's right here, baby." he said as he pushed Scully slightly foward. "You get a play toy." "Oooo, goodie!" Deena said. "Your little girlfriend lays a finger on her and I'll kill her!" Mulder screamed. Rex threw Scully down on the floor. "Dana, you okay?" Mulder asked. She nodded. "Ok, first of all....you give me your gun." Rex said. "No way!" Mulder yelled. "You want to play my game, you have to play by the rules." Scully nodded her head. Mulder gave it to him. Deena started fiddling with Scully's hair. "Listen honey. I know I said you could play, but first we have to work." "But Rex!" she screamed. "You promised!" "Yeah, well. I'm breaking this promise." Rex grabbed Dana and picked her up onto her feet. He threw her at Mulder. He caught her as she fell into his arms. She looked exhausted, he could tell. "Now, I haven't seen any blood yet. Let's spice things up a bit, shall we?" Rex said. Rex picked up Mulder's gun and pointed it at Scully. "Nooooooooo!" Mulder screamed. As Rex pulled the trigger, Mulder covered Dana as the bullet ripped into his left shoulder. They both fell to the ground. "Fox!" Scully screamed. Blood was pouring out as she ripped his shirt open to cover the wound. She started crying as she realized it was closer to his heart than she thought. Mulder lost consciousness. His head went limp in her arms. "Well, that was fun!" Rex exclaimed. "Fox." Dana whispered through her tears. They streamed down her face and onto his wound. The hole in his chest began to swell as the blood seemed to have disappeared. Scully's eyes stared in wonder. The wound began to close as she looked up to see Rex and Deena smiling. "What's going on?" Scully asked. Mulder woke up to find Scully still hovering over him. He felt, well, surprisingly well. "Congradulations!" Rex exclaimed. "Dana, what is he talking about?" Mulder asked softly. We was still slightly weak, and he was definately in shock. Dana knew that. They both were. "You passed." Rex said. "This whole ordeal you two went through. It was a little test to prove your love for each other. Although, your love is yet to be discovered. You've had your share of experiences, and this was no exception. I hope you two will take the time to build upon this little adventure. You've got a great relationship, one which most couples could only dream of." Rex continued. "I hope you two have learned a little something about yourselves and each other." Deena said. "Well, Rex. We should get going." Rex and Deena turned around toward the mirror in the back. "Wait!" Fox screamed as he and Dana stood up. "So, that's it?" "We've done what we could. The rest is up to you two. Good luck." Deena said as they disappeared through the glass. 1 year later. Dana woke up with the sun shining right in her face. Well, she thought, at least we won't have to worry about rain. Today was going to be a very busy day. The wedding was in 5 hours. Fox rolled over as he focused his eyes on the sight of Dana. He smiled. "We should get going," she said. "Yeah, Skinner will be here soon," he sighed. They both got up. The wedding went pretty well. Except for the part when Frohike decided that if he couldn't have Dana, no one could. Fox almost killed him. But, all's well that ends well, Dana thought at the end of the long and exhausting day. She couldn't care less what happened next. They were together, forever. And nothing could change that. Nothing. Not even mirrors monsters.
